Comments on Studio Culture

This handsome publication is an important contribution to the contemporary canon of graphic design literature. It is a must for any designer thinking of starting his or her own studio and a valuable addition to every serious design library.

I haven’t read any text yet, just seen a few headline quotes from the likes of Alan Fletcher, and it leads you into the book beautifully. The pictures that support the text are really enticing and the layout and the print is lovely. It’s a cracking little package.

It has just the right mix of engaging in-depth content and the ability to dip-in and out of it. It also has the added benefit of working as a source of reference, making it a bookshelf essential. The design is spot-on too; beautifully presented, always there but never in the way, presents the content without ever looking to upstage it.

I have to say on every level I think it’s really fantastic. Great texts (just finished Stephen Doyle) and design, and just a wonderful tactile thing to hold in the hand: no ego format, no hard cover, no heavy paper. Watch out all those boring design book publishers… I’m a happy reader and an envious publisher.

I received my copy of Studio Culture last Friday and haven’t been able to put it down! Really excellent — there has to be a follow-up!

Congratulations on Studio Culture! The book looks fantastic! The cover is beautifully floppy, the paper is really nice as well. We love it.
